Who uses Pcounter?

Whether Pcounter is used for cost recovery, simple accounting, print job release, print job size control, or print quota control, it's presence guarantees a reduction in print usage.

How much does your organization spend on printing now?
If the cost can be recovered, then Pcounter will easily pay for itself in a short period of time.

Pcounter is used in many different vertical markets.  Below are examples of typical Pcounter features and usage in these markets.

Pcounter is being used at many schools all over the world, from well-known prestigious universities to high schools, secondary schools, school boards, university and public libraries.  Students can use a lot of paper, whether they are printing out multiple drafts of research papers or surfing the web.  Pcounter enables academic sites to eliminate print waste completely.

  • Pcounter can be used in a "pay for print" scheme, or students can be granted a limited amount of pages each semester.  Some sites allow students to print as much as they want to, and add the cost to their tuition bill.  Pcounter add-on products include payment options for cash, credit card, and campus card systems.
  • Pcounter rules-based printing can allow limits to be set on the number of pages in print jobs, free printing based on document types or URLs, and limits on the number of print job copies that can be made, for example.
  • The Pcounter Popup can be configured with different profiles, allowing staff and faculty to enter department/project billing codes, while students enter ID/Passwords in computer labs.

Pcounter has a broad array of features designed to make printer management easier for professional sites.

  • The Pcounter Popup is often configured for client code billing so that print jobs can be billed to third parties, clients, departments, etc.  The auto-reply feature can be set by users to "automatically reply" to print jobs for a set period of time, such as when working on a single project all day for example.
  • Pcounter rules-based printing can route print jobs based on attributes of the job.  One common usage of rules is to route larger jobs to higher capacity printers, or to reschedule extremely large jobs to print after hours.
  • Pcounter reports and billing statements can be generated based on almost any critieria, such as user, department, client billing code, etc.

Real Estate

With today's affordable color printing technology, real estate agencies which at one time needed to produce brochures at professional printing companies are now able to create them in-house.  Pcounter gives agencies the ability to identify which agents are printing, and to bill them later for printing costs.

Law Firms

Billing clients for consumables is part of the typical law firm protocol, and the Pcounter popup provides this capability for printing.  Users can be presented with a list of client codes/matter numbers in order to identify the purpose of a print job, and the resulting data is used for billing to clients of printing costs.  Reports can be broken down by user, client code, matter number, etc.

Higher cost, large format plotter media is often used in Architecture/Engineering/Construction and Pcounter is a valuable tool in recovering those costs.  The Pcounter Popup can be used to bill plot jobs to clients.  Pcounter also includes a plot manager for print-ready plot files, and is able to track plot area size and/or linear output of roll plotters.

Pcounter is used by various government agencies worldwide for allocating and tracking departmental printing costs and printing security.  The Pcounter Popup can be used to password-protect desktop printing of sensitive documents, and Pcounter multifunction products can be used to enforce secure release of print jobs at the printer locations.
